CITY OF CALGARY - Bundle - 3 CORE COURSES - IAP2 Certificate of Public Participation (Calgary, April 8, 11-12, 16-17)

The bundle consists of the 3 core courses, builds on the foundations of public participation training and best practices from around the globe to provide participants with 35 hours of effective training in public participation and engagement.

The three in-person (Calgary) core courses are:
1. April 8, 2024 —IN-HOUSE with the City of Calgary — IAP2 Way in Challenging Contexts (7 hours; Level 2)
This module covers the fundamental models and frameworks of public participation and engagement practice as defined by the IAP2 community. Specifically in terms of what it is, who is involved, standards of practice, and why it is important to be practiced ethically and effectively. See course agenda.
2. April 11-12, 2024—Designing Public Participation & Engagement (14 hours; Level 2)
In this module, practitioners have the opportunity to develop public participation and engagement practice plans. This includes scoping, community mapping, determining purpose and objectives and levels of influence, choosing appropriate methods and managing resources, while considering the needs of diverse audiences. 3. April 16-17, 2024—Applying Methods (14 hours; Level 2)
The focus of this course is on exploring a variety of methods used in implementing public participation and engagement. Participants will learn to select, assess and create effective elements of methods to work meaningfully with participants. See course agenda.

April 8: This in-house training for City of Calgary employees is taking place at the Andrew Davison Building - 133 6 Ave SE, 2nd Floor, Florence Boardroom.
April 11-12 and April 16-17: The training is taking place at the Best Western Plus Village Park Inn. The hotel is located in the University District of NW Calgary. It is located a 5 minute walk from the Banff Trail LRT station.
Daily schedule: 9am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 4:30pm
The fee includes coffee/tea/water and snacks. You are on your own for lunch.

Upon successful completion of the Certificate in Public Participation, participants receive a "Certificate of Completion" to acknowledge their accomplishment and verify their training hours.

All cancellations and requests for refunds for In-Person and Virtual Training must be made in writing as indicated below. Requests must be sent to Amelia Shaw Consulting at info@ameliashaw.ca. Telephone requests will not be honored.
In-Person and Virtual courses require a minimum number of participants to proceed so that we can ensure that the best possible learning experience is provided. Amelia Shaw Consulting reserves the right to cancel a course if the minimum number of participants isn’t reached 2 weeks prior to the course start date. Registered participants will have the option to receive a full refund or transfer their registration to another course.
To guarantee your spot in a course full payment is required. If you require an exception please contact us at info@ameliashaw.ca.
Refunds
Requests for refunds require written notice sent to Amelia Shaw Consulting at info@ameliashaw.ca and must be submitted a minimum of 30 days prior to the course start date for In-Person and two weeks prior for Virtual courses. Participants who cancel within this time period will receive a full refund, minus an administrative fee of $50.00.
No Refunds
There will be no refunds for cancellation requests received within the 30 day period prior to the In-Person course start date or two weeks prior to the Virtual course start date.. Transfers to future sessions or courses will also not be permitted within this time period. However, a substitute may be named and that registration will be honoured. Please email your substitution information to info@ameliashaw.ca at least two working days prior to the start date of the course.
There will be no refunds for missed (full or partial) courses and session recordings are not available.
Training participants are responsible for ensuring that they have access to Zoom and Google Drive, and are able to access course materials.
Multiple session courses usually build up knowledge from one session to the next. If a participant misses a full session they may not be able to attend subsequent sessions of the course.

If your employer is exempt from paying GST/HST, please send an email to info@ameliashaw.ca prior to paying stating your name, organization and GST/HST exemption number, so that GST/HST can be removed. Refunds will not be provided after an invoice has been paid.
